How loud should be a CPAP?
As you are supposed to be sleeping, the CPAP therapy should not be louder than a whisper. A whisper is about 30 dB (decibels), normal conversation is about 60 dB, and a motorcycle engine running is about 95 dB. CPAP manufacturers use decibels (dB) to rate how much noise a CPAP makes. These tests are undertaken under strict laboratory conditions and provide a good base by which you can note how loud is the CPAP.
Most Travel CPAPs are at or below 30 dB. However, everyone perceives sound differently. Each individual is different so it can be hard to compare decibel ratings to familiar sounds you hear in everyday life or what is emanating from the CPAP machine, or the type of mask interface you are using. If part of the CPAP equipment such as the mask is not connected firmly causing air to escape, it will lead to irritating noises being heard. A CPAP user must also consider that some devices are quieter at the machine-end but louder through the exhalation port on the mask as noise is conducted up though the CPAP hose. Noise also is dependent on the pressure levels and can vary between when you inhale and exhale meaning that this variation can be irritating to the user.

How to reduce noise in your Travel CPAP
1. Ensure your Mask is properly fitted and adjusted.
Sometimes, the problem is not with the CPAP but with the mask you are using. If you do not use a mask compatible with your cpap and it is not fitted properly it will be noisy. If the mask is not fitted and adjusted to your face during use, leaking air can lead to that annoying noise issue. Adjust your mask to make sure it fits perfectly to your face when setting up for therapy.
2. Pair Your CPAP Machine with a Quiet Mask
You may be surprised to learn that a lot of the noise you hear at night as air traveling through the hose and into your mask. While you may already have a CPAP machine that is pretty quiet, a quiet CPAP mask is equally important for those who are sensitive to sounds. The quietest CPAP masks have diffusion vents and often feature a more minimalistic design, so if you feel like you hear a lot of air noise coming from your mask or tubing, a new style may be worth considering.
3. Using a CPAP Muffler to Help Reduce Hose Noise**
For those individuals who are noise sensitive, a Muffler would be an option to consider. The Muffler works by reducing the level of noise travelling up the breathing circuit to the mask. Troubleshooting The Transcend Micro
1. Problem: The Transcend CPAP LED lights on the keypad do not go through the initial flash sequence when the CPAP is connected to a power source.
Possible Cause: Power is not completely connected to the CPAP.
Solution: Ensure that the power source is completely and correctly connected to the Transcend CPAP.
Possible Cause: Power source is defective.
Solution: Ensure that a solid green LED light shows up on the AC power supply when it is plugged into a power outlet and connected to the Transcend CPAP. If you are using a battery, check that the battery is fully charged A green LED light will appear on the battery when it is plugged into the power supply if the battery is fully charged. If there is a fault with the battery, a red LED will appear.
2. Problem: CPAP shuts off unexpectedly.
Possible Cause: Mask is not fitted properly, resulting in excessive air leak.

4. Problem: No airflow from the Transcend device.
Possible Cause: Mask is not fitted properly, resulting in excessive air leak.

6. Problem: Discomfort due to a feeling of high pressure.
Possible Cause: CPAP device pressure may be set too high.
Solution: Try breathing through your nose with your mouth closed. Use the ramp feature to acclimate to the pressure while falling asleep. If the pressure remains problematic, contact your homecare provider.
7. Problem: LED Fault mode appears on the Transcend travel CPAP.
Possible Cause: There are several fault modes to signify specific errors that may occur with your Transcend CPAP.
Solution: Please see the following fault mode tables for more detailed information. When viewing the LED lights, the Device LED is the green light and the Fault LED is the amber light.
8. Lights are blinking on my Transcend CPAP. What do they mean?
